RIVERA Y MILLER

OUR RIVERA AND CELO ANCESTORS. RIVERA is of MEXICAN, SPANISH and TAGALOG extraction since the grandfather of our grandfather JOSÉ RIVERA (owner of Hacienda "Cuatro Hermanos" of Tabugón, Dingle, Iloilo) came from PILA, LA LAGUNA, here, there are many RIVERAS up to now. But José Riverá's mother, DOñA Florencia Cepeda, was a Bicolana from Naga. So, our abuelito (grandfather) Don JOSÉ RIVERA is a mestizo ESPAÑOL, MEXICANO, TAGALO y BICOLANO. He married FELISA CELO y ARANDA from Calinog, Iloilo province. CELO is the Spanish rendition of a Chinese name SIN-LO, turned to SILO and Hispanized to CELO. That is why, when I went to Spain to look for the surname CELO, there was none. SINLO turns out to also be SINLOC which later became LOCSIN. Our Locsin ancestor is MÓNICO SILO the sacristan of the first Augustinian missionary that founded the town of Calinog, Fray DIEGO CASTROVIEJO, OSA. FRAY DIEGO was fooled by the MUNDÓ and Calibuganes women, the INDIO native nomad and savage tribe of CALINOG, into dringking TUBALINA, (tuba from the NIPA Palm which is an aphrodisiac or "lumay" in Quinaray-á) whom they later drunken and stupify INO RDER to sexually seduce him for years, thereby fathering 168 children with over FIFTY Mundó and CALIBUGANES females. After more than a century, the product of this "incident" are many Calilognons, among them our beautiful grandmother, Doña Felisa Celo y ARANDA de RIVERA. ALONG WITH MY MOTHER Lourdes, the other daughter of JOSÉ RIVERA and FELISA CELO is CONSEJO (Connie) RIVERA de MILLER. In thepicture, the little girl with Doña Felisa is my mother, LOURDES. The other picture are of OUR ABUELITO Don JOSÉ RIVERA, a then very handsome gentleman.

Marcus Miller, an American Admiral who came to conquer Iloilo from the Filipinos under General Martin Delgado and Presidente Emilio Aguinaldo decided to stay and married a Filipina. From the marriage were born the Miller brothers. Guess who they are in the old photo with Sir Marcus seated in the center.
